Welcome to the homepage of the Atmospheric Chemistry Group of the Department of Chemistry, University of Leicester. Our research encompasses the broad issues of tropospheric chemistry, stratospheric chemistry, atmospheric composition and photochemistry. The work is directly related to environmental problems such as air quality issues, photochemical smog formation, acid rain formation, but investigates the scientific basis by making measurements in the field and modelling the resultant data in order to understand on a fundamental level the controlling chemical and physical processes. The research within the Department of Chemistry constitutes part of a wider interest in atmospheric and global geoscience within the Earth Observation Science (EOS) program.

The Atmospheric Chemistry Research Group designs, builds and deploys research instrumentation for studying atmospheric chemistry and analyses, models and interprets the attendant data. Measurements are made from ground-based, aircraft and satellite platforms.
